More Blade Where You Need It. Protection When You Don’t.
Tissue blades are used very differently depending on what’s sitting on your workbench.
When I’m working with metal clay, I’m generally cutting something only a few cards thick. But polymer clay artists may need nearly the entire height of the blade exposed to slice through a large cane or block of clay.
So we designed the Edge Guard Blade Protection System to work for both.
Instead of putting a grip across the entire top of the blade, the system uses compact grips at each end. Your fingers have a defined place to hold the blade while the center remains completely open, giving you access to the full working height where you actually need it.
And when you’re finished cutting? That’s when you want that long guard.
The removable Edge Guard slides over the cutting edge of the tissue blade, helping protect both the sharp edge and your fingers while the blade is sitting at your bench or tucked away in storage.
It’s one system that changes jobs depending on whether the blade is in your hand or put away.
Designed for Metal Clay AND Polymer Clay
This was important to us.
A full-length grip across the top works perfectly well when you’re cutting thin sheets of metal clay, but it can limit how deeply a tissue blade can travel through a large piece of polymer clay.
The end-grip design leaves the center of the blade exposed, so polymer clay artists can use more of the blade’s working depth without giving up a defined grip at either end.
For metal clay artists, you still get a comfortable place to handle the blade — without having to grab the bare steel.
Protect the Cutting Edge When You’re Done
Once you’re finished working, slide the Edge Guard over the sharp cutting edge.
Besides making the blade safer to reach for later, covering the cutting edge helps protect it from the bumps and dings that can happen when tools are tossed into a drawer, tool bag, or travel kit.
And because we apparently can’t make one organizational thing without making it fit into another organizational thing, each blade length fits conveniently into its corresponding SlipFit™ Blade Sleeve.
Edge Guard on. Blade into sleeve. Done.

Why You’ll Love It
The Edge Guard Blade Protection System solves two different problems with one very simple design: it gives you a place to hold your tissue blade without sacrificing useful cutting depth, and it gives that sharp cutting edge a protected place to go when you’re finished.
Whether your bench is covered in metal clay, polymer clay, or a little bit of both, the blade can work the way you need it to.
